Carlingford Marina is the beginning point of the newly opened Carlingford – Omeath Greenway.
The Greenway was completed in July of 2014 and is now enjoyed by an increasingly enthusiastic community who walk, cycle or jog from Carlingford Marina, all the way along the coast to Omeath.
The Greenway is a total success. It is a beautiful, peaceful walk, with uninterrupted views of Carlingford Lough and the mountains either side. Dotted along the way are little points of interest where you can see evidence of the old railway track, and wishing wells to contain the brooks and streams that run off the mountain onto the shore.
It is 6.5km in length with plans to lengthen it further in either direction. Eventually it will join up with The Towpath that runs along the Newry Canal.
Carlingford Marina is the obvious location to start or end a journey on the Greenway. Its beautiful location, ample car parking space, and great amenities with Cafe Marina and The Deck Bar to serve as a meeting place for all groups.
